Outdoor dining tables are not only stylish and easy to clean, but they are well-built, sturdy and comfortable, the perfect combination for any patio or yard and family gathering. Outdoor dining tables are wonderful for dining outdoors on warm sunny days.
Outdoor tables usually come with four to six chairs and a table umbrella. The umbrella fits through a hole in the center of the table into a base that is filled with sand, gravel or some other heavy material. This keeps the umbrella from blowing away in windy weather. Outdoor tables are also known as patio tables or garden furniture. Some outdoor tables consist of more than six chairs and the umbrella can be optional.
The table is especially designed to be for the outdoors and is made of weather resistant materials, such as treated wood, wicker, wrought iron, stone, vinyl, glass or plastic. More modern tables come in various sizes and shapes. The umbrella, or parasol, is made of a type of nylon which wears well in the out of doors and is used to provide shade while dining outside.
Another type of outdoor dining table is a picnic table, sometimes called a picnic bench. This outdoor dining table is a modified table with attached benches specifically for eating meals outdoors. Most picnic tables are made of wood, but more modern tables are made of various materials, such as, brushed metal or a hard sturdy plastic.
Picnic tables made of wood should be made of treated wood, or should be stained or painted. The stain or paint needs to be water resistant to prevent rotting, cracking or warping of the wood due to the outdoor elements.
Many families enjoy dining outdoors by eating on these types of tables. Outdoor dining tables are always great for informal gatherings, birthday parties or outdoor weddings. The tables are relatively inexpensive and are intended for years of enjoyment.
