The debate which has been going on for a long time now seems to have taken a conclusive turn. We are all wondering whether the traditional hot rods, which are now termed as the Rat Rods, would continue to rule the roads or would the ongoing energy crisis force them off the road for good. Well, the question of the flamboyant rat rods fading to oblivion is far fetched and cannot be accepted as reality. Yes it is true that the ongoing energy crisis has forced many rat rod owners to reconsider their decision of owning a fuel guzzling automobile but at the same time, the fashion conscious genre has maintained their stand on retaining their iconic machines at all costs. So, it seems that the hot rods are here to stay.
The Basic Changes Which Have Transformed A Traditional Rat Rod Into A Mean Machine Of The Future
With the change in time and technology, people have begun to understand the need for energy conservation. There have been numerous instances wherein people from all walks of life have started heading towards a cleaner, cheaper fuel, like hydrogen and CNG. Well, where does this leave a rat rod? There is definitely a problem here as a traditional rat rod is a fuel guzzling machine which can not be compared to a contemporary fuel efficient vehicle. In such a scenario, the traditional Hot Rods had to be customized to suits the needs of varying budgets. This has led to the introduction of economically viable rat rod pick ups and motorbikes. Not only are these machines low on budget, they retain most qualities of a traditional hot rod. Hence, if push comes to shove, then the traditional hot rods, with the aid of the contemporary technology, would manage to blaze a trail for years to come.
